But, of course, from Andrea’s perspective it is still a mystery as to why the Q-rack would be found next to the medical supplies. If the objective was to take the Ambassador’s pattern, why would the murderer have left the drive behind?

Apparently that's the rack the drives were mounted in. They pulled the (5) drives, and in their haste, forgot to take it? Just a guess.

just a guess,, they had 6 Q-Racks,. just in case. never used 6th,, so the empty got left...

I'm with @megados -- I think this was the rack they mounted the cores in.

Might be a good idea to bag or isolate the rack in hopes of finding some DNA or other residual clues. It looks like Andrea is already assembling some of the clues so far.

Or they made copies, and deleted the original copy. I'm guessing asteroid man brought a better, more portable storage medium with him.
