The Essyane Warriors

There’s nothing better in a plot than angst, one would say. Above all in a heroic fantasy story. And I certainly agree – and all characters from The Essyane Warriors will be ensnared by angst wherever they’ll go.
The main character, Laois, the beautiful queen guarding the Octambour island, seeks for revenge. After all, someone set her wonderful castle on fire! The witch, Niglet, the one who’s decided to be an arsonist, won’t stop here and will make her most powerful soldiers act as a spy – said spy who was given magical powers though he can barely contain them all.
And the Mercenaries. Ah yes. Forced out from their bodyguard jobs, compelled to live in a forest with some people they barely know, and finally seeking the Essyane warriors to get back some kind of pride and dignity.
Key Plot and Characters

The power and the mystery surrrounding all characters are the keys to the whole manga. Every character keep trying to get influence over each other, since they barely know one another.
And the poor (but powerful) Essyane Warriors will certainly end up being ordered around to choose a side : either helping out Laoïs (the good side?) and kill Niglet or joining Niglet’s army to finally defeat the Octambour Queen (the bad site?)
The whole manga is pretty dark but with humour as well – it’s a inheritance from the manga style.
All characters have a special skill ; only two of them know how to use both magic and swords : the Sité Queen, Pandora, and Claspering, Niglet’s spy. They have a special relationship even though they both know they’re enemies. Among the war that will be provoked by Laoïs in her thirst for revenge, they’ll try to live on with their love.
Manga influence
It’s quite clear when you see the webcomic : I’ve always been influenced by the manga style. I’d rather use the real effect of the manga when it comes to drawing (for references, one of my favourite mangaka is Hojo Tsukasa – City Hunter, Angel Heart). I’ve been using for a very long time classical pen and screetones then got to digital artwork a bit out of the blue because that was the “trend” for European comic strips. And I still feel close to manga even if European comic strips used to have a big influence on my drawings.
