Always love it when a new detail changes the context of a scene.
Story Time! My party was crossing a mountain to visit a village of Gnolls as part of an ongoing effort to encourage diplomacy and jolly cooperation. Our side of the mountain is a nice, verdant valley. On the Gnolls' side is a desert. And so, the party packed light for hot weather.
And then we reached the mountain peaks, and the DM informed us that there were blisteringly frigid winds blowing. I'm playing a Yuan-Ti, a snake lady. She's effectively naked (snakes don't have mammaries after all), so the only thing she's wearing is a strap that holds her quiver, and acts as something of a utility belt, with the DM and I agreeing that her AC is all about her flexibility, and a bit of natural toughness due to be covered in scales.
So, she's very much not dressed for an icy mountaintop. I interrupted the DM's regaling of the impressive vista laid out before us by announcing that I was rolling a constitution save, and... I rolled a Nat 1. The Half-Orc Barbarian ended up having to stuff me in his knapsack while the Wildling Monk fed me potion-infused hot soup to keep me alive.
And then, showing us just how quickly he could pick up on an opportunity, he used the fact that I didn't die as a hint to the identity of our next Guest Star Party Member, Kharon, who very much Shouldn't Be on the Mortal Plane.
After that we had to stop a cult who were trying to summon a fell God by using blood sacrifices on a dragon's skeleton to cease death (and thus bring about a very painful immortality), which inadvertantly brought the Ferryman over to fix things.
And all that because I crit failed a con save that I made myself do because roleplay.
