Even in the same sentence where the adjective form would have worked just fine. Although "dead" would not follow the grammar of the prestige dialect, it's a common usage and universally understood.
Even where there's a verb "killed," in common use that would have done the job following the rules of the prestige dialect, in one syllable.
On the whole, I like it. It gives the wastelander ideolect some flavor.
