NEW!! SUPPORT OUR COMICS ON PATREON.COM!

patreon logo_emblemYesterday, I set up a creator account on PATREON. If you’ve enjoyed ROADFROGS, please consider pledging a buck or two to support my continued web-comics work. In just a couple of weeks, we will begin publishing G.I.JEFF: A REALLY AVERAGE HERO and ,around the end of November, we plan to start PIG-FIST and BACON. Your patronage will go a long way toward keeping the comics flowing. There are several more projects to follow – if I can afford to take the time to do them. Thank you for your support.

Episode 27 delayed

Sorry, folks. No new ROADFROGS today. My past two days got car-jacked, so to speak. Car trouble with two different vehicles kept me away from my computer. The inked image for episode 27 is waiting there to be colored and lettered. But never fear, I’ll get it done sometime this week. So be on the lookout for the new episode within the next two or three days.

‘Til then …

Keep both feet on the wheel!

A Tuesday without new ROADFROGS …

… is like a day without sunshine. Yeah, yeah. Actually, it is raining here in Western Henrico today. I’m a little under the weather and, not having a backlog of strips already finished, I’ve decided to skip this week. Episode 19 will post next Tuesday. Right now, I’m going to take care of myself and try to beat this digestive tract virus that I seem to have caught from my wife who was sick last week.

The first eighteen weeks of ROADFROGS strips are still available here, so if you’ve missed any, this is a great time to catch up. Hopefully, by taking this week off, I can not only finish today’s next Tuesday’s strip, but get ahead again, like I was early on. By the way, originally I thought that this story would only run about 25-26 weeks. Along the way, as a few of my original ideas have taken some unexpected turns, the story has gotten a little more involved and – hence – longer. At this point, it appears that “Froggie Went a-Courtin'” will run at least 30 weeks, and probably more like 40. I’m having a lot of fun doing the strip. I hope our readers are having a good time with it too.

If you like ROADFROGS, please let us know. You can subscribe to email updates or RSS feeds, like us on facebook, vote for ROADFROGS at TopWebComics, comment on the blog or email me at carytowncomics@gmail.com.

Thanks for reading!
See ya next week, God willin’ and the creek don’t rise.

some character sketches

I recently found some of my old character sketches for Roadfrogs. I did these originally back in ’94. The pictures posted below are rough tracings I did tonight just so I’d have these characters in my current sketchbook.

I’ve been working on reconstructing the story for the comic. I have found some early notes Peggy and I had made at some point and I think I remember most of the gags and the dialog we had written. Of course, the original story was plotted as a four or five page comic book story. I’m trying to adapt it now to a strip format. I’m not sure if it will work as a three or four panel daily style strip. I’m leaning toward maybe doing it in a Sunday format where I have a little more freedom with layout and pacing.

In the meantime, I’ll post some more detailed character sketches as I have them ready. And once I have a few strips ready, I’ll start publishing them here.
