Neon, I really dig your reference to the one Arwing pilot who defected to the Venomian Army. Hopefully in this case though, the ex-Cosmic Elite teammate didn't lead anyone to be doomed by the big bad who's currently employing Mesmeron.
And the thing of it is, I purposely drew and wrote it in a way that you don't know who the traitor was yet. We'll learn more about THEM in the future....
I'm just glad that if Bolt shut people out after losing Jamie and some of those friends... he didn't do it too long. I didn't even get an explanation when I lost some of my friends.... And these were some of the closest friends I had in high school. I shut out the whole world for the longest time after that.
Interesting look into the blossoming romance between Bolt and Jamie, as well as their having each other's backs from one derring-do to another. It seemed like a thrill ride for both of them... not to mention those private moments of true intimacy, as shown in the fourth panel. I don't think I've ever seen Jamie's hair flow like that before, but given the mood at that moment, along her apparently reaching for the switch to turn off a nightlamp... 🤫).
But as we all had previously learned, it wasn't to last. Any doubts that Bolt thought he was in the right for not being forthcoming to Jamie about his sexual orientation are now disproven; His taking full responsibility for his actions -- even respecting Jamie not willing to recommit to the relationship they once had, but with no hard feelings and still remaining a confidant to her -- has earned him more than enough in the redemption department.
But the fracture of the Cosmic Elite revealing a traitor/rebel in the ranks is troubling. And as I told Neon, hopefully the mole didn't go as far to do something like lead GS officers into the hands of Mesmeron's dark benefactor -- if this guy is everything Mesmeron says he is, especially how his failure to appease the mastermind brought him to a state of near-panic and possibly fear for his life, that would be a gruesome fate indeed. 😬
I think this may actually be the first time we see Jamie in her real form with her hair down!
As awkward as their reunion was back at the beginning of the season, I think they've long since made up with each other.
And yeah, we finally find out what happened to the Cosmic Elite. Some commenters had the theory that they died, but now we see they just broke up. We'll meet them all in the near future....
For whatever reason, Jamie doesn't want to use her real name, so "Officer Jupiter" has nice ring to it.
Bolt's actions and proclivities boil down to simple selfishness. Millions of people are tempted daily without giving in to it, and almost every philanderer says "I couldn't help myself". Bolt's current actions prove that he can control his impulses, and losing Jamie was the push he needed to realize that. Could he fully make it up to her? I'm not a fooi, but I do believe in redemption, and Bolt has shown real growth. We'll see....
